Hello everyone, I wanted to convert a family guy episode I was given, it is a .mkv file and I intended to load it into virtualdubmod
and extract video and audio so that I could remux it into a .mov ..mpeg4 and mp3 with another program.

The problem is I cannot get the video file out, nothing can understand its codec?.
I used mediainfo to find that its an avc file, installed .264 and but had no success.
    Can anyone suggest a direction?

  2. are you missing the avchd codec? gspot might tell you. if so try installing x264

Hi minidv, I have already installed the x264 but to no success.
I have had to use vso dvd creator, burn them to dvd and then rip them back off dvd to avi ...long way around it but its worked.

Still I would really like to know why I could simply open these files in vdub 1.8 vdubmod and 1.5 which produced errors..

Rip from your original dvd instead of downloading warez releases.
