  1. Im having problems joining 2 avi files using vdub .
Im getting the message about vbr codes and different audio streams sample rates . Im going to try running them through TMPEG to convert to mpeg then join them .
idont know if this will work but will try it until someone has time to help me.
    Thanks.

What's your ultimate goal with these 2 AVIs? Why do you have to join them to reach this goal?

  3. its a movie split into 2 avi files want to convert to dvd as one file to put on a disc

  4. I've used AVI joiner or similiar tool to achieve that goal. I've only had to do it a couple of times. You might want to check the tool section for AVI joining tools.

Don't worry about joining the AVIs before conversion. Convert each to DVD-compliant MPEG, then let your authoring tool do the joining for you.
    If in doubt, Google it.

TMPGEnc traditionally does not like VBR MP3 audio. Extract the audio to a WAV file using this guide then specify your AVI as the video source and your WAV file as the audio source. Or alternatively, try this guide for using TMPGEnc.

There's more tips on problems with TMPGEnc here:

    If in doubt, Google it.

Encode each to the same specs DVD mpg.
Author to DVD with Tmpgenc DVD Author as two parts of the same title. TDA will do the joining at the authoring stage. (Remove chapter point inserted by TDA at join to avoid potential slight pause at that point.)
I'm sure soime will chirp in saying that you will get a slight pause at that point, but it seems to be a rare experience.

    This is for TMPGEnc.

That guide encodes video only with TMPGEnc and uses ffmpeggui for the audio.

    Either method is fine.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  13. at the end of your guide it shows the box for tmpeg i assume to convert to mpeg with but now when i attempt to convert the file will be nearly 4gb so when i join them it wont fit on a dvdr

That's where you use the bitrate calculator, as explained earlier in the guide.

If you convert your WAV file to AC3 it will fit.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  16. i followed the guide best i could and now when i encode the files disk 1 gets to 20% and i get the error:

tmpeg index of scan line is out of range (356)

    this is really frustrating

If available, it's probably gonna be easier for you just to spend the cash and buy the movie on DVD
    If in doubt, Google it.
