Hello, yes Im a nOOb.
When I burn some disks from movies using 1 clickdvd 4.1 or other software the disk surface is sometimes blurry and cant be read. Blurry as in there is no distinct border where the writing starts and stops like my "good" burns. I dont know if the disks are copyprotected but is this my burner or what???![]()
If you can point me to a past post that would be great as well.
Thanks

This could be a media issue, are you using cheap media? Have a look in the DVD Writers section on the left to see which media has good reports with your burner

Two possibilties. The Discs are junk or the burner is dying. If you switch to another brand of DVD r and you get a nice distinct even edge to the end of the burn ( burn a smaller than MAX project so you get a visible edge to the end of the burn ) and it plays OK then it is your media. If you are using premium discs with no change, then your burner's laser may be the culprit. It might even still be able to burn CDs perfectly well but the DVD laser may be gone. It's happened to me so I speak from experience. Luckly DVD RWs a very cheap this day so it is not a huge expense.

Im using the memorex +R and its neither good nor bad I guess under my burner (Sony 710U). Ill try some fuji, thats was listed as good.
It seems that it only burns certain projects bad (blurry border) which made me think maybe it was copy protection.
Wish i had a picture but; for say a ~3gb project its claims to brun fine (1Click4.1) then you pop out the disk and flip it over and it has concentric zones of good sharp borders and fuzzy borders. -
Do your burned discs play at all?
There some burners that will produce concentric zones of diferent shades of tonalities. specially if you are burning at 8-12-16 X The burner does it in gradual increases of actual burn speed so you will get what appears as zones. If it looks blotchy within any of the circumferance of the burn then it's not good. What you scanned these burns for read errors? No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
Nope they dont even get recognized in my DVD (computer) player. They just crash any progy that i used to read them.
One note here, as i said I am a nOOb. I am burning at 16x, (with 16x dvd+r memorex media) ive seen some things in here about burning slower. Think this should help?
I have not checked them for errors because of the crashing which usually results in a quick toss out in the street.
Thanks in advance! -
Yep, sounds identical to me when my DVD burner decided to go up the river. One minute it was perfectl the next it was not. Do you have both a rom drive and a burner? Can these discs be read on ANY ones computer or player? If you at least managed to burn it, it must at least meant that the drive recognized the disk in the blank state. By the way 16x burns are always iffy even with 16x discs, and so you know, Memorex has to be one of the worst "Brandname" media aorund. Ther + media was a bit better but that was way back.
Try a CD and just burn some data to it and once it is done, verify or scan it using the same drive with Nero CD/Scan or simmilar SW. It is burns and scans well, then it's the drive. The only "Fix" is a replacement drive. Fortunately their are only like $70 to replace. If I spend a couple of hours piddling around trying to solve something very simmilar, I decided that my troubleshooting time is more valuable than the replacement cost so replaced it.No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!
