  1. I have an .avi, that I am trying to convert to .mpeg.

I tried using TheFilmMachine, and the video part cuts short at 7:27 and is missing the rest of the 19 minute video.

However, the audio part is still intact, running at 19:31.

Now, at first I used TheFilmMachine. Video came out as an .mpeg. About half-way thru the video, the picture is cut off, but the sound keeps going.

Next I tried DIKO Gold. It created two files, one .mpeg file that is only 7:27 long, and one audio at 19:31.

So something is happening, and I do not know what.

BTW, the video plays fine in BSplayer (the .avi that is).

    Any suggestions?

Yes do what I am about to do, give up!

the art of copying and converting video is more troublesome and time consuming than its worth, never in my life have i come across something so stupidy undocumented and overcomplicated.

Its so much less stressful to just go out and buy whatever it is on DVD.

  3. Well, I just ran my video thru VDub-MP3, and no bad frames were found.

And this works, btw twain, as the first two dvds made of .avis work wonderful. It is just this one giving me problems, and I do not know the cause.

No matter what, it's obvious that there is some kind of error/incompatibility in the AVI at 7.27.
You could try installing the latest version of whatever video codec is used in the AVI.
Personally, I've given up on downloading AVIs using P2P software (not saying that this is what you've done) since most AVIs have errors that make them unsuitable for conversion.

  5. Well, I got this from a realibe source, and there are 26 episodes. Every other one worked fine, and they were all encoded by the same guy (TV-Rips).

I am encoding with TMPGEnc now to see how it does.
