    Video : 209 MB, 623 Kbps, 25.0 fps, 352*272 (4:3), DX50 = DivXNetworks Divx v5,
    Audio : 20 MB, 64 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3,

the other is also taken from avicodec

    Audio : 43 MB, 128 Kbps, 44100 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3,

i followed a tut from here to change the codec so they matched but the bitrate is different (i dont know if that makes a differnce)
but the audio is also different which i know will cause problems i cant join them usuing virtual dub until the data matches as it wont let me so any help i would be grateful for
    thankyou in advance

You can reencode the audio with VirtualDub too. Go to Audio -> Full Processing Mode. Then Audio -> Conversion. Set the parameters as necessary. I recommend also enabling High Qulity. Then Audio -> Compression... Select an MP3 codec and set the prameters.

still have the problem of video resolution and bit rate being different. that can change that too though so its up to the original poster.. i vote for dr divx as its alot more user friendly for the average user.
