Hi There...
I've recorded a TV program using the SP mode on a DVD-RW. I've finalised it, and it plays just fine on the deck I recorded it on.
I also have a Pioneer DV-626D, and a cheapo Medion player, and when I try the DVD in these, the menus and video displays just fine, but no audio can be heard.
Any idea what the problem can be?
Bablos.

Hi There...
I've no idea - audio settings remain the same at all times. They play standard DVDs and VCDs just fine. This is the first thing they've ever had problems with.
Anything I can do to check/experiment?

I have found Panasonic DVD recorder's AC3 files to be far out of Dolby specs, so this is not too shocking. It happens from time to time. Just try to edit the audio files, it's a real pain sometimes, as there is often corruption in the streams.

Here is the setup procedure for the audio from the DV-626D.
There might be a compatibility problem with the dvd-rw disk. The ES10 supports dvd-rw ver. 1.1/2x speed and ver. 1.2/4x speed. The DV-626D being about about five years old might not support some of these standards.
[edit] P.S. Try burning to a dvd-r. Does the problem still occur? dvd-r is more compatible than dvd-rw. -
The disc should not matter. If it shows video, it'll have audio. The disc type does not control just one stream or another.

I missed this part.
"video displays just fine".
Here is a bit more from the 626 manual,
