So after reading a bunch of reviews on this 150 I too decided to give in and give this a go, everything installed fine, I installed the drivers that came with it and the program is working good. I've so far come into some problems
1. The capped files when I skip to later in the file it will sometimes crash WMP (I've tried it at vcd, svcd and mpg-2mb/s) and I have tested more then 1 file and this still occurs. I'm using Wintv2000 btw
2. I've read reviews that capping vhs with this card should give really good results however this is not the case for me, when I capped at the qualities mentioned about I can see squares ( this is frame lost right ? ) Do I need to use a better program or choose a codec or what should I do.
Like I stated this is a fresh install with the drivers that came with the cd so if there are any drivers and/or registry patches that will help make this better please let me know.

Alright Well I have upped 4 files, the mpg quality setting is stated in the file name, the dvd 12mb/s has the same quality as the game but is rediciously large. The other ones all have squares.

Hey SHS you think I could get you on a messenger and talk to u ? Theres simply too much to ask and I have to cap something real soon.

Hmm I tried this tape, it worked fine when i connected the vcr to the tv, but then when I connect the vcr to the cap card and played it, it looked all weird, someone was telling me it was something to do with macrovision ? I own this tape.

It's hard to tell from your samples, but you may be having problems with resizing interlaced video. If you're in an NTSC country try capturing at 720x480, if PAL 720x576. That would be the DVD templates in WinT2000. Does that look any different?
-
Well I am in canada and the tapes are meant for ntsc countries so yeah. I'll post an other screen in a sec using the 720x480. Also when I play the tape, thats exactly what I see in the wintv2000, how do I do the deinterlace ?

I really looks like a synchronisation problem to me.
Is it only one tape showing this problem?
Is it a commercial tape? -
It is a commerical tape from overseas recorded in ntsc format so its not the pal format. But to me it doens't look like it has the macrovision problem ( dark and light screen and whatever else that crap is )

Also do u guys think this might solve the macrovision problem if it is that ? Electrohome SVHS Video Stabilizer. -
StoneColdWhat what seeing not macrovision a video synchronizer problem.
Your going to need Time Base Corrector -
Tried a bunch of vcrs and same result still, and these tapes aren't "professional american movie tapes" they HK tapes made by the company PROFEKTA. Also do you guys think maybe a diff card would give different results ? I bought the 9800 aiw and will install in a few days.

Yeah I can cap my own tapes fine, I was readings somewhere that with the AIW'S MMC program, it will detect the macrovision and give u an error, however if u start recording before that and don't click ok whe the error pops up it will keep recording, is the problem with I've tried 5 vcr and none of them are old enought to not detect macrovision, if it is indeed macrovision causing the problem in the picture, do u think that stabilizer i posted above will help it or is it junk ?
-
Macrovision consists of several types of errors injected into the video stream. This site gives some pretty detailed information:

I don't know anything about the stabilizer you mentioned above. It might work. I know that some stabilizers work on some of Macrovision's techniques but not on others. -
Since your TV does not show the problem. Here is a way that might determine if the tape has Macrovision. Use the vertical adjustment to cause the TV picture to roll up or down and look for the bright areas in the what normally would be a black horizontal bar.
-
That is the original Macrovision method. I think we might be seeing the colorburst/colorstrip method.

Hmmm I thought about trying something else, going from TTV/VCR 2 in 1 combi straight to the tuner but when I hook everything up and load the program I get a black screen with no sound, tried the antenna/tv tuner plugin but thats no good either, any idea why the black screen ?
