I've been trying to copy this dvd.. to my hd. Using dvd decrypter. Its had like 20+ read errors. I tried cleaning it using dish wash liquid. But still happens. Is there anyway to improve recovery of this disk. An option in dvd decrypter maybe?
I'm hoping a small read error. that means maybe 1 or 2 megs of video can't be recovered.. isn't a big deal. Should only amount to like 5 seconds of video or so.

Is this an original store bought DVD. If it is then it is problably a scratch. There are a couple of so called disk polishers but not having ever used these I can not coment on their efficacy. If it is a back up then the copy may have these errors and so, you may not be able to recover. Decrypter has many options to handle errors in their properties. That might help.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

In Decrypter, Tools> Settings> I/O> Options. You can set the number of tries higher or have it ignore errors. If the disc is that bad, it's worth a try, but there may be too much missing.
I would agree to try polishing. If there are a lot of fine scratches, some of the machines work OK. One or two big scratches, I would do by hand with a polishing compound made for the purpose or a lightly abrasive toothpaste. Don't polish in a circle, but back and forth.

Disk polisher definitely worth a shot. If you buy, get the one with a motor instead of a crank. Disk Doctor or some such. Have saved many disks with one of these, crank is a PITA, though.
If this is by chance a rental disk the scratch may be deliberate, there have been a few posts on the subject.
