  1. Hi...

I'm using a JVC 9911 SVHS and JVC MH30 DVD recorder. When I try and covert tapes, I am getting distortion on the borders that may or may not be normal:

I have tried to use different source tapes, different cables, and different media with the same result. I don't see the problem until I finalize the DVD and then play it elsewhere.

I have also had very minor audio sync issues, but reading the ton of posts about TBCs, I'm assuming that a TBC can help with that. I've seen posts on an issue similar to mine where it was referred to as bending, but I'm not sure if I am suffering the same thing.

Would a TBC fix this issue, using better cables, or do I have to use a software package to crop the borders?

    Any advice appreciated...

    Thanks!

  2. Do you mean those little bits at the top and bottom few lines? Those would be normal. The top few lines hold non picture information and as I recall it the bottom few lines are showing head switching noise form the vhs source. Both are normal and not seen on a TV.

For them to be seen they had to be there before finalizing the disk.

Have you tried the different settings on the 9911? One thing to make sure is not to set to edit as video mode. I myself usually use sharp or normal, depends on the tape.

If you play the DVD in the JVC recorder do you see these problems? If not maybe it is where you are playing them?

    Cheers
