Hello All.
I've had this recorder for six weeks and it's a great unit. The only problem I have is I can't seem to get the high speed dubbing to work. I've been through the manual several times and still don't understand. Can anyone explain how it works?

It's not easy to high speed dub on this recorder. You can't do much editing on a clip before you can't high speed. If you split a file in 2 you can't high speed dub any of the 2 files. You can add chapters and a indexpix and that's about it.

"High-speed"
I think the highest speed on DVD-RW can only be 2x speed. So to fill a DVD disc (120min) lasts 60 min at 2x speed.
You cannot use 4x DVD-RW -

I have a Panasonic E80 there are two ways to edit one is shorten segments and the other is Play List.
Shorten segments deletes the MPEG file you do not want. And let's you get more hard drive space back.
Play List let's you edit but does not delete any thing.
I know this is about a JVC DVD recorder but you might have two ways of edtting.
See if there is a play list editting iit might be called some thing else on the JVC. -
I have a question about this unit. If you divide a file can you do high speed dubbing? I record some shows back to back on the same channel. So this is something I really need to have.
If you have to record a file if you can not high speed dub. How is the recoded file. I think about buying another unit. And this one has been on my mind. -

Is the movie recompressed during dubbing? Or just copied to the disc? -
Thx Stampe.
I asked a question in an other topic, but nobody's responsed, so I ask again here.
This JVC is said to have "HQ two-pass encoding" feature. Is that true? How to select the two-pass encoding? -
