  1. Hey so i have the HD PVR for capturing xbox 360 gameplay. There is some lag involved as a result of the capture device being hooked up to my 360 and then plugged into my tv all using component cables. The component cables i have are very cheap silver ones. My question is if i buy some expansive gold plated ones? Like the gold plated component cables such as the high end spider cables, monsters, or w/e you know those $60 - $90+ component cables. Will this take away that lag becuase they are suppose to be higher speed connectivity and higher quality?

Nope, won't help a bit,the lag you see is inherent to your setup.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  3. Just to be clear as to what im saying... like ill press a button to shoot it will take like .3 seconds to register with my HD PVR hooked up... Now if i was just playing with the HDMI hooked up i press the shot button and it will take like .1 seconds to register.. so yeah that little bit of lag time is really screwing my up huge

    any suggestions ??

  4. Electricity travels through copper coax at about 200,000,000 meters per second (~2/3 the speed of light). Your cables aren't long enough for you to notice the lag they cause.

The lag is unrelated to the cables.
The lag is due to the buffer of the capture device.

Split the signal from the system separately to the recorder and the TV.
Then it records the same signal, but parallel to what you see.

  7. You can try using passive Y adapters. If that doesn't work you'll need a distribution amp.

Is this a Hauppauge HD PVR or one of the AverMedia AVerTV HD DVR capture devices?

A splitter or component distribution amp is needed when using the AverMedia HD capture devices. However, the Hauppauge HD PVR has a component pass-through specifically for connecting to a TV for no delay, so no splitters are needed. Just connect regular AV component cables between the component connections for the pass-through and the component connections for the TV.
