  1. Is there anything out there like this. I dont want to get a new card for my notebook. I have firewire but my video cam (sony of ilink fame) uses a usb 2.0 link.

    That's not a common conversion. You would be better off in the long run to get a PCMCIA Firewire/USB 2.0 combination card. That's what I use. USB with video cams is usually only for still photo or low quality video transfers.

  3. usb 1.1 is for pics and low quality, but usb 2.0 is great for transfers.....just cant transfer 2.0 into firewire connect. I can get a square into a circle but I'm at a loss here.......no commercial adapters, eh?

    If there were adapter they'd probably cost more than a FireWire card, and even then I wouldn't trust it at all. And how can your Sony not have 1394?
