Hi, I'm ripping a DVD using SmartRipper, CladDVD or DVDFab (tried all three). I'm finding that when I pull the files into cuttermaran the length of the audio and the length of the video are different. This is resulting in bad results; the audio track is always off. I've tried so many tools and methods etc. Anyone have an idea what's going on here? I only see this problem on DVDs that are protected.

  2. I noticed this when using DVD Decryptor and TMPGEnc, and it always pissed me off. You get a nice M2V stream and TMPGenc thinks it's like a half hour shorter than the audio is. It worked fine on at least 1 DVD I had, but it usually ends up doing that so I have to use DVD2AVI. Why is this?

OK, I've used DVD2AVI for all of about 10 mins and it's driving me crazy. Not that it doesn't work. It's more about the script file nonsense. This must have been coded by someone who loves unix. "Sure, it's great to have a $200 video card for games, but why on earth would you use it for anything else?" Sheesh. I have a GUI in my OS, why not in any app that I download? If you want to see a sample of a good, useful and free tool (with a GUI) check out Cuttermaran.

  4. What the hell are you going on about? DVD2AVI has a GUI.

In any case, it pisses me off TMPGEnc Plus/Xpress can't open the M2V/VOB itself without misjudging the goddamn length.

Yeah, I'll take that back. I read into the help files a bit and it's like, open the file, download this other tool, start writing scripts. You're right it has a GUI. I think the help files need to be updated.

Anyway, I tried the same disc with this tool and got about the same result. About 2 hrs of audio and 1:35 of video. The video is synched for a while but then they get out of sync. It's not a delay, there's just too much audio for the video.

    Bump...

Does anyone have any ideas on this one? I've tried all the ripping software that I have and I'm still getting the too much audio for the video problem. I've seen this happen on other DVDs as well.
