Hi, I need to shrink the length of a DVD production. Original AVI is on disk and my newly authored VIDEO_TS output.

I need to increased the total length of the DVD by 6 minutes and (impt) if possible to sync the subtitles at the same time too.

    How can I do this?

I am practiced at using a good selection of raw and Cyberlink DVD editing/authoring tools, but obviously I seem to not know of a program that can do this all at once preferably without having to doing time consuming crop/extract routines.

I am interested in seeing where this thread goes on the topic.

All reasonable and experienced comments welcomed/needed.
    Thanks

  2. 1) on one hand you say you need to shrink the length, then you contradict yourself and then say you need to increase it by 6 minutes. Which is it ?

    2) why do you "need" to ? It would help to know the background information

DVD has strict requirements for frame rates, you cannot simply speed up or slow down and have it DVD compliant

It's probably easier to add or remove content if you need a specific duration

  3. What's the frame rate of the source? I assume you're making an NTSC DVD since you're in Canada. It may make more sense to adjust the length of the subs -- you can do that easily with Subtitle Workshop.

The subtitle comes from a 3rd party. It doesn't sync up with the video frames when I do that. It is NTSC.

  5. Then simply changing the running time of the video won't work either.

Exactly how you adjust the subtitles to match the video depends on what's different between the two. Why is there a six minute difference? Because one has additional scenes? Because one is PAL the other NTSC?
