I don't think it would hold on good. Seems good at first because we have a new law with the having community service if littering out of car windows (that includes cigarettes butts), but the never enforcing the littering laws.

This one is cool for a while but is one of those gadgets that gets old and you won't use it long.

all I want is a way to smoke in my car and let all the smoke out WITHOUT letting the AC out and the Texas heat in.

What! At three dollars a pack, smoking is becoming a status symble. You better beleive that my full ashtray is a symble that I can afford to burn money. And open the windows in my car? Never! I want to savor every last particle of smoke that I paid for! If you ride with me I am gonna charge you for half of the cigarettes that I smoke!


In all seriousness (Is that a word) I don't like to see all of the butts on the ground myself. A good example is at just about any lefthand turn lane that has a median curb or grass divider and a stop light. I am no angel myself, but I do feild strip better than half of my butts and toss the filter into the trash or pocket it until I find a place or remember to empty my pockets. I smoke like a freight train, but Georgia just passed a no smoking law for any place that allows minors inside, I am gonna really suffer.

Kind of still on the subjuct, places that don't provide smoker areas are only asking for trouble. I see all kinds of examples of butts on the floor and in dusty corners of back rooms and service halls and such. If smokers have to hide then they often are not as smart about putting there butts out safely.

Will I buy the exterior ashtray? Nope. I doubt that it will ever even make a dent in the butt pollution problem. The best thing would be banning cigarette manufacturing or forceing the tobacco companies to make a faster biodegradable filter.

On a semi related note. I am currently on a friends PC while smokng. Its been YEARS since I've been able to do both at the same time. Man I miss this....

a cheap 'free' solution to smoking is to get some full ashtrays and chew the butt ends and rub the ash into your clothes. That way you at least you can smell the same and get the same refreshing taste in your mouth for next to nothing :P

I don't know if you saw but there has a video. I find it facinating with he puts down the window and it sticks back to the door. Wouldn't work with my car but the lip is too long I think.

For some reason, reminding me of an invention I look for my friend. He has cat, and there was this thing that hangs out of your house window, like the air conditioner. It is a plastic container thing with a flap that the cat can go into from inside, and keep the air from the container out. It had a vent fan to vent the air inside out. You can put the litter box in or just use it as a balcony for cat. It was supposed to keep the cat smell out. He decided not to buy, would have been interested to see working. It was called the Cat Patio or something. It has discontinued.

The ashtray is a item of novelty, I wouldn't pay for this either. But I have to say it seem cool at first. And might be useful in places with forest fire.

i dunno about the x-tray.. it doesnt look too safe.. because you have to take your attention away from the road while driving.. roll down the window, slide open the lid, put the butt in, slide the lid back over it, close the window..

i use a cup with water in it and just throw my butts in there..

and to those complaining about smokers, you should stop.. in fact you should thank smokers.. if it werent for smokers most of the country wouldnt be able to live so high on the hog.. the majority of the price on our cigarettes are taxes.. smokers pump billions of dollars in to the economy and billions in to the government.. i dare say we are more patriotic because we smoke..

and if you still dont agree, i think you should fight to make smoking illegal. life in prison for anyone caught smoking, even one puff.. thats right, fill up the prisons with millions of smokers.. stop collecting tax money from cigarette sales and start paying to build more prisons and house more inmates..

smoking is necessary evil.. yes it kills millions of people, but it also gives the government billions of dollars.. if the government really cared about the people they would make smoking illegal and banish it from the country.. but they care more about the money, so they let smokers commit a slow suicide.. i guess the ends justify the means for them in this situation..

but getting back on topic, no i wouldnt buy an x-tray. a cup of water is safer & cheaper.. plus if someone pisses you off you can throw it on them.

no thanks as just a few things spring to mind. I don't want to stink like an ashtray, lose my sense of taste and increase my chance of getting cancer I suppose even though there's more reasons :P

Smokes are about $3.50 a pack here but if you goto CVS phramacy before they sell out you can get them as cheap as $2.50

I miss smoking at my computer, but not my place so not my rules. It does suck though.

My biggest question to someone like MackemX is if you opened this thread and saw it was about smoking and obviously don't like smoking. Why on earth would you bother to post in the thread?

At what point did hassleing smokers become ok? At what point does it become ok to look at a fat person eating and say "Do you KNOW what your doing to yourself?" At what point does it become ok to openly accuse people in SUVs of "destroying the enviroment".

The not taking it political was more of a general warning actually. As to the rest, you have to realize you may be having fun but every thread about smoking has at least one person "having fun" and it quickly leads downhill in 90% of the cases I've seen.

Its like you see a group of poeple and you know if you walk up and say dance in the middle of them some people may laugh but it often leads to a fist fight. Yet the 12th time when you see them standing around what do you do? Run up and dance in the middle of the crowd.

At any rate. I would almost never promote smoking because there are so many negatives about it. But I do enjoy it myself. I don't know why restruants and bars ban cigar and pipe smoking and allow cigarettes, I think that a pipe or gigar smell good compared to cigarettes. I just don't like the taste when I smoke them my self. Hmm, maybe I could find a pipe scented room freshener or incense to cover the farts. (JK)

I do know why cigar and pipes are banned, at least I have my theory. Because of the AMMOUNT of smoke they produce in some cases. no personally I don't care, good pipe smoke smells great, same for a cigar, but I could see how some places would not like that.

Smoking is something I like to do and it is my business. If you not liking it, don't do it. But don't make everyone not smoke just because you don't like it. If I choose to do it, and it kills me, whydo you care?

Ah, This is true. One time I was leaving a restruant and noticed there was quite the selection of fine cigars in a humidor near the exit. Being the adventurous type I asked the owner his opinion as to which was the best. I bought his reccomendation, a green 1" dia 10" long instrument of death. I got into my truck, put it into my mouth and lit it. I instantly began to gag and choke. It was the worst smoke that I had ever smelled. It gave me stomach cramps and the heaves. I thought that I was gonna die! I spit out my lunch and I thought for sure my guts were to follow. My mouth was watering and my body would not let my swallow reflex work. I do think that I could have scraped grass clippings and dog shit from under the mower deck and had a better smoke.

I think that the ones that I like to smell waifting in the air are like the cheap fruit flavored or sweet types.

I've hear that it can be unpleasing if not use to do it. I'e never actually smoke cigar only cigarettes. I hear it can be pleasant or bad depend on what you're use to and what type it is.
