DUDE!!!!!!!! NO WAY ?!?!?!?! mine said that for a day and then it said "some parts were at the end if their service life and to contact a service center" or something like that, i got 2 diff. warning's and after the second one, it just went turn it on and the damn thing won't do anything!! The two red lights alternate and i have tried everything to get it to clear.

But i have ran easily 1000's of dvd's and cd's through mine and almost the same in glossy paper so i definately used the hell out of it in the last 4-5 months, got my $60 out of it thats for sure now i think i am going to either transfer my CIS to it or buy the newer version from JLWsales. 8)

It's funny because i was just on my way down to BB to pick up another R200 for $100.00 because i needed one right away and by chance i happened to come here and saw your post and away to COMPusa i went

my two red lights alternated too. And I couldnt even take the ink out of it to put into the R300 without undoing the screw. No response at all from the printer no matter what I did.

And I'd say I printed probably 2500ish DVD/CD's or so...but no covers/glossies, use my canon MP360 scanner/printer to print covers.. (I'm a fan of the whole 86 cent ink cartridge thing).

    Huh...
My ink cart tray slides easily, like it did not lock back down before it died so i just slid it over and popped out the carts. i put them right back in until i decide if i want to keep using this CIS or go with a newer version on the R300.
Are you talking about the screw that hold's the cart cover on ?
I never reinstaled mine, just took it off and left it off, on the R200.

In the manual it say's when the lights do that "the CD/DVD tray guide was left open when you turned on the printer or when printing to paper. Close the tray guide"
But i know that's not the case with mine

Warranty Terms - Parts 1 year limited
Warranty Terms - Labour 1 year limited

So i'm gonna see what i can find out and get done with mine as it's only about 4-5 months old.

  8. Maybe I'm wrong but it sound like you two just needed to reset you ink waste counters. I've had that message twice and I'm still going strong after resetting both times.

    Nope!! deader than disco!!!! :P

The message we both got from the printer stated that parts in the printer had reached their service life and to contact a service center, nothing what so ever to do with ink waste resetting

    Wish it was

I'm still going to mess with it but it's still way in warranty so, even if it's gone forever, i've way more than got my moneys worth.

  10. Yes thats what the message states. It doesn't say anything about the waste pad. It says that parts in your printer are in need of service. That part being the waste pads.

The owners manual states that when the lights alternate like that "the CD/DVD tray guide was left open when you turned on the printer or when printing to paper. Close the tray guide"

And you are talking about using the SSC Service Utility to reset it right ?

I'll hook it back up and try again......

And you have had that message twice ?? because i have literaly ran a few 1000 dvd's & cd's through mine and almost as many pages of paper and this was the first time i ever saw it....

    I'll be damned!!!!!

Yep, just hooked it up, ran the utility "reset protection counter" and it cleared 8)

Well, guess i'll buy another CIS after all and just run them both

Glad ya pushed me into it otherwise it would have just went to the shelf with all the other printers, now im gonna have 4 printers hooked up

But it has been geting pretty streaky lately so i figured the print head/s were wearing out anyways.... even with a perfect test page....
