With July 1, 2007 about a month away when cable companies are supposed to support third party decoder boxes with cable cards and require separate decoding on their own devices, is there any chance that there are third party HDD units waiting to come out that will use cablecards to decode digital cable channels on their own ?
As far as I know Series 3 TIVOs are the only devices currently out there using cablecards, but If I had the option of buying a DVD Recorder with cablecard decoding I'd be all over it.

If there are, I haven't seen or heard about any yet. It could be that they are waiting for the official deadline.
Also keep in mind that I'm sure the cable companies will charge a fee per unit (decoder card). So you will still be seeing a seperate charge.Google is your Friend
