Looking for a cheap and easy solution to play XviD on TV in loungeroom.
Got an old 800MHz P3 computer with ATI9200 with s-video out.
If i got a 802.11g wireless card and wireless router, reckon i could play the XviD videos from the disk of another computer on the network?
This solution seems cheaper and easier than any others I've read... would it work? Thanks!

I don't see why it wouldn't / couldn't / shouldn't work ...
... however I'm a little skeptical of the overall quality of video cards outputting to TV, and I prefer to use a DVD player that plays XviD, DivX and raw MPEG off data DVDs instead. A lot of the time, the cheap n nasties are on a par with (and sometimes outperform) the brand name DVD players. If in doubt, Google it. -
As long as all devices are 802.11g, it'll be fast enough for non HD stuff.
Are you certain you can handle the sound of an old PC in the room? -
thanks folks, just needed to make sure that 802.11g will be fast enough for normal XviD stuff.
Quality is not my main concern, most XviD i have are only stereo anyway
I will be getting a standalone XviD player as well, for anything I've already burnt, but it'd be a pain to burn onto RW and watch it just once for anything i didn't want to keep.
cheers!
