  1. I am trying to author a DVD with two MPEGS, but one has AC3 audio and the other has MPEG audio. TMPGEnc will not let me use both clips. Is there any freeware that will convert the clip with MPEG audio to AC3 audio? If not, any commercial software that will do it?

    Thanks,

BeSweet or ffmpegGUI will do that.

  3. Thanks - I used ffmpeg and I now have an AC3 audio file.

But how do I combine the original MPEG video with the new AC3 audio to make an MPEG that has AC# audio?

If you have TMPGEnc encoder, under 'File' > 'MPEG Tools' > Simple Multiplex. Or if you are authoring, just select the AC3 audio and the original video files in your authoring program separately.

you can author both without converting, just use separate tracks/vts for the mpegs. click add track in tmpgenc dvd author.

  6. I tried separate tracks, but the two clips need to join smoothly and separate tracks caused a big jump.

I also multiplexed the video, but redwuz'r suggestion of just choosing a different audio source was something I didn't know about - worked beautifully and saved one generation of video.

DVD looks great - thanks for all your help!
