  1. Just bought an ILo DVDR05, records well but I ejected the 2nd DVD+R without finalizing and now the ILo won't offer to finalize the disk or even play it.
    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

  3. I just bought this and wanted to make sure I hadn't missed something in the manual. It seems it only offers to finalize when you eject the DVD the first time and I can't find a menu setting for finalizing.
    Thanks

    Anyone Else?
    TIA

Take it back to the store. Run, don't walk.
Get a Pioneer or locate the ILO "04" model.

  8. Also got the ILO DVDR05 two weeks ago (by mistake, I wanted the 04 but they gave me the 05 model).
    I had 100% success with DVD+RW (RICOHJPN-W01-01) disks.
However on DVD+R (CMC MAG-E01-00) and DVD-R (SONY08D1) so far 100% coasters - not a single good one! On the DVD-R it seems to record fine and I can replay on many DVD players, but the recording freezes at about 50 to 80% into the movie. The DVD+R error mode is that the 05 tries to format the disk, but then it doesn't let you record - after that the disk is stuck in the device and I have to power it off and on several times until it lets me open the tray again. Tonight I'll test an older 2.4x DVD+R disk (RICOHJPN-R00-01).
When I transfer the content from the DVD+RW to a DVD-R via Decrypter ISO copy, the DVD-R plays in all tested players flawless to the very end of the video. Never had a problem so far to transfer the video from the DVD+RW disk to the computer via TMPGenc Editor.
It has been reported earlier on this forum that the ILO DVDR05 has problems with DVD+R disk... that solved a lot of questions for me. It might be that the 05 can not deal with newer (faster) +R disks. I have a lot of 2.4x DVD+RW which serves my purpose. But if you want to be able to buy new +R substrates and burn directly - according to my experience so far the device is not doing what it is suposed to do.

  9. I too have had the same experience, the DVD+RW worked fine but the +R's won't finalize. It error's out during the finalize procedure.

Interesting that Wal-Mart Canada doesn't sell either model. We do have the Liteon 5005 though. I might get one for a friend as a wedding gift as they are only $200...

  12. Good luck with that. It seems that if you even DO get a reply, they like to play dumb to the issues with their products.

    Doesn't DVDdecrypter have that capability?
Find a friend with a dvd burner and have him close the disc(s) for you.

Wal-Mart Canada just got the Cyberhome 1600 models in yesterday. I have to check if they are ZU or MU versions. Apparently some problems can be fixed with new firmware updates. Check the Cyberhome website for details...

  15. I received a response from Ilo, new firmware and loader. It now works with the ESA DVD+R blanks that would not before.
Now I can see that the Mpeg encoder used on the Ilo is poor quality. Even at HQ (1hr) mode it appears grainy. That won't do.

By the way the Ilo 05 is a dual media machine even if Ilo dosen't know it. Iv'e recorded on Teon, Platinum and Maxell DVD-R media and it works the same way as the +R media does, you have to let the machine set up a disk before burning and finalize it.
