i have un-finalized DVDs that were recorded on a Lite-On DVD/VHS recorder that now reads every disc inserted as "invalid disc" (new or un-finalized). will ImgBurn solve my problem in that i can finalize them w/the software and play DVDs on other DVD players?

  2. It's possible, if that doesn't work you can use IsoBuster to rip the VIDEO_TS folder.

It's very unlikely that ImgBurn will be able to make your unfinalized discs readable by a DVD player. If it fails, most likely any recordings on that disc will become unrecoveralble.

It is safer to use NeroVision, ISOBuster or CDRoller to attempt to recover the recordings. There are people on this website who have reported success using one or another of those programs to recover recordings from unfinalized discs produced by their DVD recorder.

I have personally used the free version of ISOBuster to recover recordings on unfinalized discs, but it is more difficult than using the paid version, which automates the process.

Sounds like a dirty laser lens, why don't you try to clean it. Just open it up, remove the plastic shield on top of the DVD drive, get a cotton swab (Q-tip) dip it in alcohol, remove excess alcohol (you just want to moisten the swab) and gently wipe the front of the laser lens. Flip the swab over and wipe it with the dry side.

My Lite-On did the same thing. Is yours hacked as well? I have the 04 and used the hack to make it region free, etc.
