my lg 4163b doesnt want to burn cds

my lg 4163b doesnt want to burn cds.
it burns dvds, but says there is no cd burner when i try to burn a cd.
using nero

also i backed up a trailer park boys dvd the other day, and it burned fine , but heres the weird thing: it worked fine for the fist couple of times watching it, but eventually became useless and wawnt play anymore....is this possible?

Try removing the burner from device manager, then rebooting to get windows to reload the drivers. Then I believe there is an option in Nero to have it rescan for devices.

The DVD issue: sometimes cheap media will do this, or the dvd label (assuming you label your discs).

the cd thing worked although only for nero...
easy cd creator still doesnt accept it as a cdr drive
(which is cool cause i only use easy cd for extracting audio files)

the dvd thing is questionable cause i used decent quality ritek/ridata dvdr (not the cheap ones either)

Unless I'm mistaken, I don't remember seeing a rescan option in Roxio. I know it scans on install, but there should be an easier way than re-installing the software.
