The rollers on my R200 are constantly getting inky. Every time I print a DVD I have to open the cover, slip the dvd tray under the rollers so that they rotate the entire 360 degrees, and clean with a rag. Half the time that doesn't help because the rollers get little spots of ink on them again during the print. When the dvd comes out there are little ink spots in a line representing where the roller has rolled over the dvd. I'm just about ready to throw it through the window because I'm wasting a dvd each time it happens . Anyone else having this problem? If so, did you find some way to fix it?

    Thanks.

  3. that stems from blocked heads/leaking heads.cleaning them just moves the ink on,in your case, onto the rollers.
phone epson up and tell them the case, and see if they will repair or replace it,or you could just suck it up and constantly clean the rollers with isopropyl alcohol.
i got a replacement from them,as they dicovered my heads were leaking.

I think I know what the problem is. While it's possible the heads could be occassionally leaking, I think it has more to do with stray pet hair and the foam pad (don't know the techinal name - has a lot of ink on it) on the left side of the printer. The plastic region adjacent to the foam pad had black ink smudged on it. I cleaned the plastic area with a rag and the spots mostly disappeared. I've also noticed that stary hairs from my two cats' inevitably makes their way into the roller area. The hair sometimes sticks to the roller, rolls over an area of fresh ink, then leaves an ink spot each time the roller completes another 360 degree revolution. Ironically, every time I opened the cover to clean the rollers it was just another opportunity for cat hair to float in. I've now printed approximately 20 DVD's in a row without spots and without opening the cover. Just goes to show how important it can be to keep the cover and tray closed when not in use.
Well, I hope my experience helps the next person that runs into this problem.

  5. Where did you get your R200 and did you shop for best price? Also, what make of discs are you using?

I got it from Epson (refurbished) for $77.00. It was replaced about 3 weeks later because of a problem with the rollers crinkling the paper. I have no idea if the replacement was new or another refurbished, but I got to keep the original set of ink and the new set with the replacment printer
I only use Taiyo Yuden inkjet printable white discs. They seem to work fine and are generally dry right away.

You should be able to rinse the discs under running water to wash all the ink away. Let the disc dry completely and re-print instead of throwing them away. I've done this myself.

Also, once you remove an ink cartrage, don't put it back in. You're asking for trouble if you do.

Can you move the printer somewhere to reduce the cat hair? Try covering the printer when you're not using it.
