    Can you turn off the auto play function of the rom drive in XP? So when I put a disk in, it will wait for me to tell it what to do instead of running the program (whatever) as soon as you close the draw.

    Go to My Computer right click the drive and choose properties. You can set it to take no action on the autoplay tab.
