im into producing music and always wondered how I can extract samples (especially effects) from dvds entirely in the digital domain.

in the past i would do it the analogue way - actually connecting the audio outputs (rca) from a home-dvdplayer and recording into computer/cubase.
since you loose quality this way I \m curious if there is software that will let you scroll through a dvdmovie (or avi/divx) and allow to grab very specific (mostly very short/one second) clips without ever seeing analogue.

You could demultiplex the audio from the dvd with dvddecrypter and then edit it. if it is ac3 audio install the ac3 filter and then edit with goldwave.

You can edit avi/divx directly with goldwave.

so i would have to extract the entire audio clip from a dvd9 as well ? ( i can understand having to do this from a avi)

is there any software that will let me "scrubb" the audio and extract ONLY the wanted sample (without having to import a whole soundtrack into the editor)?

(by the way my preffered editor is sound forge.)
