I was wondering... do you often watch/listen/use the special features of the dvds you watch, in example:
Deleted scenes.
Extra Scenes.
Audio Commentaries by Directors, actors, etc.
How they made the movie.
Cast & Crew.
And ALL the other stuff they fill the DVD with?
I myself almost never, just with a couple select dvds. In my case it's because I like to watch my movies in english with english subtitles on, but the special commentary track does not have them and sometimes they talk too fast or not very clear or something happens and I don't get what they says quickly enough and that annoys me.
But that's me, how about you?... do you use them???

Hi,
Most of the time I check out the bonus material at least once. Some comedies/dramas I don't bother. But SCI FI stuff you bet!

(I seem to remember doing a poll on this a few months back)

Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -

If I buy the DVD I watch the extras sooner or later. Rentals I usually just watch the movie. If it was really good, rare these days, I'll watch the extras. Never do commentaries.
-
Usually, yes. It's the commentary tracks I rarely care about.

Sometimes, I actually dislike watching deleted scenes, since it will mean a big project ahead. I have found several movies where the deleted scenes should in no way have been deleted, so I sew them back into the film as a SE Supreme2k Cut.
I almost always listen to the commentaries. They are often funny, even when the movie itself is not a comedy. The new ones from Carnival of Souls and Night of the Living Dead were pretty good, as well as Donnie Darko. -
i like some, some are total crap.. if i'm making a backup of a movie i dont keep any extra's (except english subtitles), just menu's (for chapter selection).
-
I'll usually go through all the extras at least once. Depending on the film I'll revisit them multiple times. Such is the case with the films of Kevin Smith and Paul Thomas Anderson for example. Both directors include multiple cut scenes and audio commentaries which I enjoy devouring frequently.
-
I usually never watch any of the extras or bonus material on a dvd (expect for a few selected ones like extended editions of the LOTR).
-
thanks for another gooood poll! moved it to the poll section.
Only on certain DVDs.....lots of cast and crews interviews are just ass kissing....boooooooooooooooring. -
"we had so much fun making this movie, they're all great people" translates to... crap film, with people I hate. IF they ever spoke the truth .. why they put on the happy ending, why you cant have a black actress as the lead star, why there has to be copious product placement.. they may have some value but 99% are schmoozing...rubbish

50/50. I generally like to check out the deleted scenes - first the scenes without the commentary and later with the commentary. On certain movies I also view the bonus material. I rarely touch the photo/art gallery section as I cannot spend that much time.
On oldies, I also check out the trailers. Some of them are really cute, e.g., Back to the Future.*** My computer can beat me at chess, but is no match when it comes to kick-boxing. *** -
I do the first time, then movie only gets backed up and original gets safely stored away from my kids.
-
I always look at and copy:
1. Deleted
2. Bloopers and gags
3. Alternate endings and/or beginnings
I rush to look at them right after I finish watching a movie, never before. I sometimes(but rarely do) will look at up comming movies, but will never copy them. I will take them out even if all of it will fit onto a SL DVD without compression
I do not look at or copy:
1. Audio Commentaries by Directors or actors
2. How they made the movie.
3. The damn commercials they have in them -

Almost always. I have to check out gag reels, deletes, alt. endings and scenes and also enjoy "some" commentaries usually the Director but only on the more complex movies that require some help with plot points. I listen to those on the second run never during the first run.
"That Aviator" bonus disc is a must. I watched everything on it as all were interesting. Especially the discussions about OCD and the more in-depth History Channel feature.
A lot of times it's just filler junk but with docudramas such as "The Aviator" they are enjoyable. -
Almost never. I agree with a previous post that most extras are not even worth watching. Plus I consider extras on a DVD to be just filler material that the studios put in there as justification for bloated prices on DVD's.

Store bought DVD's actually have special commentaries, deleted scenes, and extras?
What the hell for?Cheers, Jim

Either you care about movie production technology or you don't.

Next on the list is Powell's "Peeping Tom" -- the commentaries and extras are (to me), extremely fascinating and educational, not to mention just plain entertaining.
