ok, this is a complicated problem. all of a sudden, nero stopped burning cdrs that would work on other computers. one day it was fine, the next it wasn't. I would burn a data cdr and it would finish with no problem. but, when I would put it in another computer, it wouldn't work. it would show all the data on the disk, but I couldn't access it. I'd double click on files and it would just sit there, or freeze up.
strangely enough, nero still can burn data dvds that work.
I didn't change any settings. I have two dvd burners, and the problem happens in both of them. I uninstalled nero and reinstalled it. I downloaded their general cleanup tool that supposedly removes all traces of installed copies of nero and lets you start over fresh. I went from version 6.6 back to 5.5 and it's doing the same thing.
I got roxio ez cd and dvd creator, and it works fine. it burns cdrs that other computers can read. the reason I don't use it exclusively is I can't figure out how to burn svcds.
the svcds nero burns work on my stand alone dvd player.
I've tried 3 different types of cdrs, they all encounter the same problem.
some stats: I have winxp pro, sp2. athlon xp2200, 512mb ram, 410gb hd space, and two dvd burners, one a 1x dvd-r, the other a 12x dvd+-.
I didn't install any software, either. nothing changed on my system except for nero's ability to burn cdrs.
anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
