  1. I am trying to compress a large video file, it is about 5 gb and I need it to fit onto a standard dvdr. It is a nero show time file, specifically xvid. what is a good program to compress this, along with .avi, and mpeg, and various other video format files? Can anyone help?

Use a bitrate calculator to find the bitrate needed to reduce the file to the size you want. Then reencode the file to that bitrate.

You can also use AutoGK. It has a file mode that allows you to compress it to about any size that you want it to be.

  4. If you want to fit your file on a DVDR then you need to encode it to a DVD compliant MPEG2 file. Use can use TMPEGEnc for this. You may need to adjust the video bitrate to make sure that the encoded file fits onto a DVDR

Don't post the same question twice . If you'd simply given more details the last time you posted the question, we could have actually helped you....
