  1. Alright I've got a movie in 3 parts here (Xvid, AC3 audio, AVI container) but no subs. I want to join them to one big honkin AVI file but I figured it would be best to add the subtitles FIRST. I've done similar things before with VDub/VDubMod but this time i'm having trouble. BTW I don't want to re-encode to get permanent subs or anything.

Along with the segments there is a *.idx, *.srm, *.srt and *.sub file ... I should have subtitles enough to get them in the AVI container right?

So I fired up VDub and added the .srt as it was the only subtitle it recognised to the stream list and hit ok. After doing a direct stream copy to another file I open th movie up and... no subs. Everything else worked fine but the subs just weren't there. I opened the new file up in VDub and low and behold in the stream list there were no subs!

Any ideas/methods would be appreciated. I tried some of the guides but nothing of much help came up.

VDub doesn't do subs at all and VDubMod doesn't do subs for avi's.

I would join the srt's with SubtitleWorkshop and then mux the lot with AVIMuxGUI. Be aware though that an external srt is most likely more compatible than a muxed one.
