    I just got comcast digital cable and I am trying to program the remote to control my Yamaha reciever.I tried the Yamaha codes and I tried to locate the code by using the remote funtion to find codes. I have had no luck. Any ideas ? Do some remotes just not work with some devices ? Thanks

    Most remotes don't always support all of a specific brands remotes. So it isn't surprising that it doesn't work. It could be that it doesn't support your receiver or that it just doesn't have a code that corresponds with your remote functions.

    Yamaha stereo remotes are one of the more difficult to replace. Especially since there are seperate on and off buttons. Your best bet is to pruchase a learning remote that operates you comcast box. My panasonic remote had a code for basic functions for the reciever (vol, channel). I then had it learn, specific functions, off and input selection.
