Guys tell me this, How does one Antivirus/Spyware app detect an infection that another prog misses. Like I stated before, I ran about 12 different scans with different apps in safe mode and they all show up clean. Then I downloaded a trial version of the latest Spyware Doctor and it detected all sorts of stuff.

Do you guys think that these trial version progs deliberatley infect you just so you would purchase their product?
You know during a trial version, the scan is free, but you have to purchase the prog. to delete the infections.

How could 12 scan show clean, but a trial version detects something. This shit smell fishy!!!!

And if indeed the infections were actually present before I downloaded the trial of Spyware Doctor, That why in the hell my previous scans show all clean (no infections).

Are these hackers creating these infections with the ability to move around and hide. Or even cloak themselves. Did I spell cloak correctly?

Man, who's smarter; The hackers that creat these infections, or the programmers who creat progs to stop the infections? If you ask me, I would give this one to the hackers.

Spyware dectectors run the same way virus dectectors do. They need to have their spyware/virus definitions updated constantly to fight against new threats. One spyware/virus program could get updated before another, which would explain why one would catch something before something else. Why you are paying for Spyware removal programs is beyond me when all you need is AdAware...

You can never be too safe.

  4. You can't rely solely on Adaware. It is a great program but use an arsenal of spyware scanners to be as safe as possible.

  5. The only one I'd pay for is Webroot Spyware Sweeper. That along with free Spybot and Ad-aware should keep you in good shape.

M$ AntiSpyware Beta is pretty good stuff and like SpySweeper, it's active protection which runs 24/7. AdAware and SpyBot only scan when you run them.

The people who stop them, no question. The hackers have the advantage of surprise, and of variety of attack.

The person preventing them must not only know all the hacker tricks, but also how to prevent them and which attack is likeliest.

  9. I've run ad-aware and spybot together a long time with no issues. I also use the MS Anti-spyware right now. If they decide to make it pay, I'll switch to Spyware Sweeper.

  10. Different programs return different results because not all scan the same way. In a nutshell, all they do is search every file and try to find a bit of code, or some attribute that matches a known virus/spyware. They may be looking for a different thing.
