  3. My WinTV PCI (401) card won't work correctly in WinXP either. It worked fine when I was running Win2000. I downloaded the new driver, WDM317_19300.EXE, and the new software, WINTV2K335_19295.EXE, from the Hauppauge website which are said to be for WinXP. I installed them but they just make it work a little more. Now everytime I try to start the software, it hangs at the startup/logo screen... then my pc locks up. I emailed Hauppauge but they haven't replied yet.

I think that my problem may be that I first tried to install it from the CD that came with the card. And maybe there are remnants of the bad driver and bad software in my system. I tried to clean it all out, but maybe i'm missing something.

    Can anyone help??

  4. I've heard that the XP-drivers sucks. The Win2k drivers should work fine. Since I bought my car yesterday, I haven't had the time to test. But it seems fine whit the Win2k-drivers

  5. My guess is you upgraded to win xp as opposed to a clean install,if thats the case your updated drivers won't work properly.I had to do a clean install to get mine to work properly.I was fortunate enough to find the answer on an Win xp faq page.I know having to do a clean install sucks, but if you want Win xp to work properly thats what your going to have to do.

  6. no... actually, I did the clean install of XP. I never update OS's.
um.. I just tried the drivers that SHS posted there. It really screwed my system. I guess that's what I get for trusting it..hahaha It made both of my cd players (Dvd, cd-rw) not work and screwed my audio... WinXP wouldn't "rollback" the drivers like it claims it can. And it was hell getting those to work again. Actually, they just fixed themselves automatically on one of MANY reboots.

Anyways... i'm tired of playing with WinTV now. It's time to return it to the store (I bought it 28 days ago... still have 2 days left to return it =) ) and get something that's already WinXP ready.

  7. The wonders of XP: don't blame the OS - buy new hardware!

  8. I never said that XP was great, or even good. I didn't mention anything pertaining to my opinions about XP, so don't assume.

But what I do know is that my WinTV card won't work properly with XP on my system (I didn't place blame on any one component). I know that Hauppauge isn't replying to my emails. Finally, I know that I have 2 days left to return the hardware.

So why not utilize my right to exchange the hardware for something else(I don't consider that "buying new hardware&quot that may work right out of the box and may provide SOME degree of customer support?

  9. Well my mates, haven't found a solution yet how to pass the X x 288 size i vdub.
I haven't fiddled with it to much either.
the one thing that bother me is that in winTv2000 (the viewing program), you can resize all you want and go fullscreen without any problems!
why can't vdub change size then?
Well, i'm having so much fun with my firewire and sony minidv cam that i have forgotten my old trusty wintv theater card. well, when haupauge releases new drivers for winxp (IF they do) i'll play some more!
    cheers

I have seen alot of problems with Hauppauge cards and windows xp reported here, seems like there is diffenatly a driver issue.

  11. The virtical resolution limitation is caused by the interaction between the WDM driver the the VFW wrapper. There are 3 ways around it:

    1. Use a WDM based capture app

    2. Use the VFW drivers under XP, Hauppauge has a faq on this on their XP site.

    3. Use the btwinncap driver, search for it on sourceforge.
