My RCA5240P DVD Player is MP3 and CD-R capable, and it plays MP3's fine, but it will not fast-forward through the MP3. This simply will not do because I archive my favorite episodes of Art Bell's Coast to Coast AM, so each episode is five hours long. If I fall asleep four hours into the program, there is no way, with this DVD player, to skip ahead to the fourth hour to pick up where I fell asleep.

Is this common for any DVD player not to fast forward through an MP3, or do you think mine is defective? I've only had it a few days. Fast forwarding through regular CD's works fine. Fast forwarding through regular Audio CD's I've burned myself works fine, so it's not the medium. It seems to have something to do with the fact that it's in MP3. Fast forwarding through high bitrate MP3 files will not work, either. The MP3's were 44,100Hz samples, which seems to be required at least for this model. 22,050Hz sampled MP3 files play back as a garbled mess.

Thanks for any tips,
Damaeus
