  1. im trying to convert my dvd's to vcd's. first of all i used dvddecryptor to get the .vob and .ifo files on to my pc splitting them after every 1 gb i then use virtualdubmod to convert from .vob to .avi using the divx 6.0 codec on the fast preset when i do this and open the saved .avi files the audio is unsynchronized. i tried using dvdx to load the .ifo file but it gives me this error:

    Code:
    MPEG2Dec:Too much sample.
Try other frame rate or change 'Detect/Force 24 Hz' Flag.
and it only gets about 9% of the total job done and ive tried everypossible combo of frame rates and detect/force flags imaginable
    can someone help me please

Sorry I am not able to understand what you are trying to do. You are trying to convert DVD to VCD then why are you converting to DivX. Please be sure what exactly do you want, VCD or DivX.

  3. ok im converting to divx because ive had frustrating expieriences with programs that convert from dvd straight to vcd and plus i want to make kvcd's not vcd's i dont want to have to use two cd-r's when im content with the quality on just one.

the problem is the synchronization. I have never had this problem before.

    arredja,

Open the VOB with VirtualDubMpeg2 and check the File-Information/Audio skew. Enter that value in Audio/Interleaving/Delay audio.

That's a big thing to admit. I wish more people would do a little searching and try following a guide, especially if they are just starting out.

The DVD2avi route is far better quality wise than the way you were attempting.

Why do you want to convert dvd to vcd? Thats a downgrade. Just wondering why you would even do that with blank dvd being so cheap nowadays
