    Hello,

I recently formatted my PC and installed K-Lite Codec pack 3.95 with the default installation. I use Media Player classic 6.4.9.1. Most xvid videos that I play have bad audio sync. I know it is not the videos themselves because before I formatted they played fine with no sync issues. I would estimate that the audio is about 300ms out of sync. Anyone have any ideas as to why I may have sync problems? Again, I am playing known good files, and have audio out of sync so I am thinking this must be a codec conflict or something. I have also tried VideoLAN and ZoomPlayer with the same results. Any help/ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Codec packs in general and K-Lite in specific have been known to cause a lot of weird problems. The general suggestion around here is to remove K-Lite.
For Divx playback, I'd suggest simply downloading and installing the free stuff at http://www.divx.com. If you can't hear the audio, then use Gspot to figure out what format it is and just add a codec specific for that.

Did you create the 'problem' videos, or get them from another source?

If players like VLC or mplayer (I'm not familiar with ZoomPlayer, so I don't know if it does the same) that use their own internal codecs and don't depend on the codecs installed on the system, also have the problem with the videos... it's more likely to be a problem with the videos themselves. (Unless there's something else not right with your system. Do all videos, of all formats, play that way (with an audio delay)?)
If possible, you might also take the videos to a different system to test, and see if the videos have the same problem there.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

Adding to what jman98 said: see what G-Spot says about the audio. Sync-to-video is best maintained with CBR (constant bitrate) audio, not VBR (variable bitrate). Also -- many, many people posting with similar problems share this trait with you: codec packs. Installing them is just asking for trouble, IMO. You should only install the individual codecs you absolutely need, and nothing else.

Zoom player uses the systems codecs. If VLC has the same problem, it may not be codec related. As mentioned, you can check your files with Gspot and see what programs and codecs are used to render them and if there is a problem with the files. But I agree about K-Lite. The source of more problems than solutions. It also doesn't un-install too well.

I would check your audio settings. There may be something there causing it if all players and all formats have the same problem. And make sure you have the correct audio and video drivers, along with the motherboard drivers. You might try updating or using an older set of drivers.

I would also check your CPU usage. Maybe something running in the background slowing the system?
