buying a camcorder in america NTSC ISSUES

Hi, i have a friend who is in america and has been offered a sony dchr40e camcorder and she has several questions that need answering before buying it
1. will it record in NTSC???
2. if it does will it be viewable in this country???
3. if so can it then be put onto a pc and recorded as PAL???
4. or are they all compatible anyway ???

Well from what I can tell from searching the web is that the Sony dcrhc40e is the PAL version, dcrhc40 is the NTSC version. So I would assume that

No I will not record in NTSC.

Its already PAL.

No they are not compatible.

hi,

both standards are not compatable but there is nothing stopping you, once the footage is on the pc, converting it from pal to ntsc, or visa versa
