Spindle of 50 DVD-R 8x Hub Printable Verbatim's at http://www.provantage.com/buy-7VBTM2A2-datalifeplus-4-7gb-8x-dvd-r-inkjet-hub-printabl...4-shopping.htm for $36.95 + 5.95 shipping
The pricture shows them with a label that says "Made in Singapore" should I take a chance on these? I'm almost done with my first spindle of Ritek G05's that are supposed to be 8x discs but I can only get them to play correctly by burning them on my Sony 700dru (VY08 firmware) at 4x. At 8x they stutter, skip and eventually freeze at the end of the disc about 50% of the time. DVD identifier says that 8x cannot be detected.

they print very good, however at one time i was very big on verbatim hub printables but tried both +and- versions and lately had problems with discs in the spindle producing errors...last batch of 100 verbatim i used last 25 discs were errors,, burned with a nec 2500a

It isn't likely you'll be getting a made in Singapore spindle. I have used non-printable Verbatim 8x DVD-R made in Taiwan (same media code, MCC02RG20) on my Lite-On 812S (same drive as your Sony) with excellent results, so you should be just fine with them.

Is the "made in Singapore" a good thing to have? I know that anything made in Japan is likely to be TY but haven't heard anything about Singapore.

I have also been using Verbatim Hub-Printables P/N 94854. Says Made in Singapore on the spindle cover. I have had no problems with this media. In the past I have used Maxell printables, but they are not hub-printable, that's why I tried the Verbatim. I've used Verbatim non printables in the past and have never had a problem. I haven't tried Taiyo Yuden hub-printable yet, but I may next time.

Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation owns a production plant in Singapore, which is why Mitsubishi/Verbatim media produced there is often though of as "true" MCC media. Mitsubishi/Verbatim branded media made in Taiwan carrying MCC media codes is made either by Prodisc or CMC Magnetics, but using MCC equipment and to MCC's specifications.

I would not make a bid deal about Taiwan or Singapore -

I use (and have always used) Verbatim +R (either x2 or x4 always non-printable).
I have only ever had one coaster that has not been my own fault. -
I just received an order of Verbatim 94854 from Meritline.com. On the Site the photo shows Made in Singapore, however, the box I got says, Made in Taiwan. Should I just return it without openning it and see if they have Made in Singapore box.
I was using the Verbatim 94495 Made in Singapore and did not burned one coaster. -
Suppafreak, these are the Verbatims that I use, and I have not had any problems with these on my Pioneer 108. Good media!

Suppafreak, you aren't likely to find any Singapore MCC Single-Layer media anymore.

rr6966, by any chance do you know the media code for the ones you have?
