I'm having a strange problem. I get an occasional xvid that comes up with the "Class not registered (Error=80040154)" message when played in wmp. I have the necessary codecs installed according to gspot, but I have 2 xvid codecs, but I only have one listed in my add or remove programs list. And in gspot one of the codecs is listed as having problems and you guessed it, it's that's it's not registered. So I use regshell to try to register the codecs, but then I get the message that the selected .dll was loaded but the dllregisterserver entrypoint was not found. So I tried to uninstall the couple of codecs listed in my add or remove programs section. Even after I uninstall xvid, and regular divx codec, the movies still play except for those couple that couldn't to begin with in wmp. I'd just use another player where they work fine but I need to convert them to mpeg and tmpg won't open them. I get the unsupported message. I either need someone to help me fix the problem, or a way to remove all codecs so I can start fresh. Any help is appreciated.

Take a look under tools - the name "codec sniper" comes to mind. OTOH, WMP is genarally not recommended as playback utility for anything.
As for TMPGEnc, open the AVI in VirtualDub, frameserve to TMPGEnc. That's what I use(d) to do when dealing with stubborn AVIs
