    Hi

Have searched the forum for my answer but to no avail.
I have transferred a home video from VHS to a DVD+RW disc using Sony GX700. Disc is automatically finalized. Now I need to transfer the contents to PC for creating animated menus etc. PC does not recognize the disc. I get message stating that it is an appendale disc!!! and that some DVD drives do not read these discs. i have backed the files using DVD Decrypter but cannot import these to any program. DVD Shrink also refuses.
Or i just want to make a copy of the whole disc.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.
PS the disc contains VIDEO_TS folder as well as a VIDEO_RM folder. Whats the Video_RM folder for.

I would use DVDDecrypter to rip to iso then burn the iso to the DVD with DVDDecrypter.

I would place it back in the Sony and see if it will close it.

    Thanks for the quick replies.
i am using DVD Shrink 3.2. Tried to finalize again back in the recorder but the 'finalize' button is greyed out. so assume already finalized.
i do not have a problem with playback on either the DVD Rom or Players.
The files I exported from the original can be played back using PowerDVD, but just the problem of importing to relevant programs. TMPGenc DVD Author 1.6 also refuses saying it is an illegal file, can only use MPEG1 or MPEG 2

  7. imtoo dvd ripper can rip your dvd to mpeg or whatever else you need so you can re-edit the disc with menu's, buttons etc. womble mpegvcr will convert the vob's to mpeg as well.
