  1. Hi - I have recently bought a Home Media Center and wanted to join all 3 LOTR movies together for playback from my HD. I have ripped each disk (just the main movie) to my HD into seperate folders.

What I would like to do is put all files in one folder that will:

    a) Allow me to play them all in the correct sequence.
    b) Still allow me to access each chapter.

Note that I did not copy the menus or scene selections.

Any thoughts on how I can do this?

    Thanks!

  2. Use dvd2one in join mode, select each title set (make sure you dont join to end of last title, select put into next title set, it does this by default) create a folder called VIDEO_TS on the root of your hard drive as the destination folder and proccess it to there. When you then open your software dvd player select drive you put the video ts folder as your source drive and it should work fine.
I could dance with you till the cows came home..... on second thoughts i'd rather dance with the cows till you came home.

  3. I have a problem with DVD2One..

First of all, it recompresses the files. In fact, to join all the 3 movies together will, according to the program, take 195 hours to complete.

Also, there is no "No compression" setting and it won't let you create the output greater than 9999 mb.

    Thanks anyway, any other thoughts?

I've never tried it but I think that DVDSHRINK will do it. use the reAuthor mode and add all three movies and edit out the credits, etc. Choose no compression and output.

I did this when I backed up Godfather 2. It is a DVD9 and a DVD5 if I remember correctly. I was able to combine both disks and compress to 1 DVD5. You juct don't compress it.

Let me know how it turns out..... WOW 9 hours!!!

DVD Shrink is the best way. Just set everything to no compression, and say OK to the warning about it being too big. Shrink will also preserve your chapters, although you will have no scene selection menu.

Shrink is not the best way if you want full functionality in chapter selections. When you merge discs in shrink it will create 'gaps' between discs, and you can't backtrack through chapters between the discs. I usually like seamless merges, so I have gone with the following system, that uses VOBEdit and IFOEdit. Here's a guide:

It's worked very well for my multi disc merges
