  1. Hi,

    I've put labels on my dvd-r but after some time (about 3 months) the discs began to have playability problems. On my computer or on my set top dvd player. (The movie skips, or have bad multicolor mpegs blocks). On the dvd which are not labeled I don't have this problem.

    So is there an easy way to remove the label ?? (I've tried with one disc, the the label removes by small parts and take a very long time to remove). Is there any solvent (like aceton) to make the sticker removal easier ?

    Does these solvents can damage the disc if they are used:
    * aceton
    * methanol
    * ethanol
    *...

    Thanks.

  2. Soak in warm soapy water overnight. Peel off labels. Remove any adhesive stuck on DVD with Rosinol lighter fluid. Great thing about the Rosinol lighter fluid is that it won't damage the underside of the disc if it gets on it. I use it to clean off any adhesive that gets on the underside of disc with no ill effects.

  3. I used to use denatured alcohol About $4 a quart, used to clean video or audio heads too. Just dab some on & wait a few minutes & then it should come off.

    The acetone probably would. The others are also risky, depending on their strength.

    The warm water soak or the isopropyl alcohol or Goo Gone will work and should be safe enough.

    I also use isopropyl alcohol to wash off Sharpie marks. 90% concentration works well and is apparently safe.

    I removed a label just the other night.
    Spray with wd-40 and let it sit a few hours.
    Label peels right off.
