  1. I have downloaded several music concert files as VIDEO_TS files.

First let me say these are legal files. Traded and sanctioned by the bands. There is no need to discuss that aspect.
I have also tried various brands of dvd-r

    Here is my problem
I download the completed file (can take 2-4 days)

I open Nero Express 3 and add the files. In some cases I add chapters becuase the video is one long chapter.

I go to burn. I get messages that there are problems transcoding or that my burn may be unsuccesful and do I want to continue?

Yesterday I went thru all that and did have a sucessful burn.
But the one I am working today with is over 2 hours. Rather than reduce quality (like I did yesterday) I want to do it in doube layer format.
I have a brand new Sony DL drive and Verbatim DL discs.

I add the files and create chapters. As I continue I am asked to chose PAL (most of it was in PAL) or NTSC which is what I need it in since my U.S. player will not play PAL.
But in an attempt to try I chose PAL. As I continue it shows my SONY as the "write to device". When I click burn it tells me it will be unsucessful and I abort. I try again but this time in NTSC. It will start up but error's out after a minute or two. BUt as I go thru the menu's it changes my write to my sony device to copy to a file. I have to go manulally change it.

I keep trying with this and with other files I download. Differnt brand blanks and I generally get the same results. I get one success for every 20 failures.

What I want to know is:
Is there something better to burn with than Nero??
(they complain of Roxio drivers. I removed Roxio, used their clean tool and still have the problem)
Is the problem these VIDEO_TS files??
I am able to add them to Nero but should they converted to some other type of file??

I am very new to this and and frustrated beyond belief.

I am having the same problems on my home PC. So mych so that I went out and bought a new high end DELL PC last week with a brand new burner. Downloaded the latest Nero software version and tried a brand new file and had the sale result.

To me the common denomonator is Nero.
If there is something better I am willing to purchase it providing they have a customer service department.
It takes Nero a minimum of 5 days to respond to me.

I appreciate any help but bear in mind I am new to this and don't yet understand the technicalities of this

    Thanks

    Phil

Use Nero or some other app to create an ISO file of your title set and try letting DVD Decrypter burn it maybe? Just a guess. I'm not a DL user yet. Still poking around in the DVD-5 realm here.

Perhaps the files are corrupt. How large are the files? 8 Gig?

Try DVDShrink on a large file and see it Nero can burn it then (single sided disk). Dual Layer burning is still too new. (Hard to diagnose)
