Just burn them as a 'DVD-ROM (ISO)' file. If you have a Divx player and they are the proper format they should work fine. And don't let Nero try to re-encode them.
You can also burn 'CD-ROM (ISO)' files the same way, if your player accepts them.

Fire the program up , make sure it has the dvd burner as unit listed ... then simply select data .
Thats it ... your done when its finished .

Grab gspot first and have a look at the internals of those avi's .
Mpeg4 with xvid or divx compressed video + mp3 audio is normally acceptable .
Go past this and they may not play at all ... esspecially if the compressed video use's some features such as QPEL . -

I was under the assumption you have a set top Divx player and just needed to burn video data files to a DVD disc.If it's a regular DVD player instead, then you have a ways to go to get a compliant DVD.
'Burning' usually means just recording a file to a DVD or CD disc using a DVD/CD writer.
To create a regular DVD from a AVI type file, you have to 'encode' it to DVD compliant MPEG format, then 'author' that to the DVD format, and then 'burn' to disc. See 'WHAT IS' DVD to the upper left on this page for the DVD specifications and formats.
If all that is the case, Nero can do that, if you have the right version, but it's not very good at it, IMO. A All-in-One converter program like ConvertXToDVD seems to do a lot better.
But let us know what format your player can use, and we can give better answers. -
The last answer is the most helpful and does appear to be what you are looking for in converting AVI movies to be able to play them in a 'standard' DVD player that doesn't support divx/xvid format, which is what the majority of AVI films are likely to be in
I use this software myself, and I've tried quite a few of the freeware ones, and commercial offerings, and go back to ConvertXtoDVD each time, its simple, does exactlly what it says and can also burn the DVD once conversion has completed
The built-in menus are terrible, and thats an under statement but they are functional and thats all you will get, but they say the new release of v3xx whenever is comes out will address a lot of users complaints about the menu system which really is that bad -
You will end up with a VIDEO_TS folder after the conversion from AVI to DVD format. You can burn that with Nero or ImgBurn. For Nero Burning ROM, use 'DVD-Video' and put the contents of your folder into the Nero folder. For ImgBurn, use 'Build' mode and select your VIDEO_TS folder.

Well i got it to burn but the volume is all messed up, i burned it with image burn, i cant fig out how to do it with nero.
-
How is it messed up? Video or audio? Or just everything? The source video quality and format is important. Some formats are more difficult to convert. Generally a Divx or Xvid with MP3 CBR audio should be fairly easy.
If you need to do this often, you might look into a set top Divx player. You can pick them up for sometimes ~$50US from Kmart or Target. They will play most net videos burned to a CD without any conversions. Saves a lot of time. For videos that are out of spec, it takes a bit more work. -
Video looks fine, the audio is all out of sync, and has no audio for the first 10 mins or so, Thanks for all the help guys but i give up
