Hi there folks,
I am sorry to say that I know utterly nothing about what I'm doing here, but am hoping for some advice. Basically, I want to burn a DVD, if possible, from video files that are on my computer. I need some advice-- I hope it's possible!
Here's the situation:
A few months ago, I copied the contents of a DVD onto a new folder I made on my Macbook's desktop. (The files came from a home-made DVD of a private concert a friend and I gave. So, I think it's pretty-much impossible that anything is copyright protected or encrypted, unless something was unintentionally encrypted by my friend's husband when he burned the disc.) I don't have the DVD anymore. At the time, I wanted to play it and/or copy, but for some reason, my Macbook wouldn't play the DVD at all. (But the DVD did play on a regular commercial DVD player.)
So, I just copied the contents into a new folder on my computer to deal with later.
This is what is there:
- a video_rm folder
- a video_ts folder
- both folders have files in them (the exact same size and number that were on the original disc, I double-checked on that before I gave the DVD back.)
I never burn DVDs. Can someone tell me what program I will need to either burn these to another DVD, or play them from my computer? Is there anything that's Freeware?
Thanks for the help! I have a Macbook (from 2007), with intel core 2 duo processor, OSX 10.4.11, 3 GB RAM, and a 500 GB HDD.
appreciate the advice...![]()

Moving you to our mac section.
The VIDEO_TS is the standard dvd-video format so you could just try burn it. Try google for burn video_ts mac ( I don't use any mac software). -
We recently discussed burning a VIDEO_TS folder:

The VIDEO_RM folder may be ignored. A Philips(-compatible) set top DVD recorder created it in VR mode, to enable basic editing on the recorder.

Burn it back to disc with burning software. Pick UDF mode.
