I recently got a LiteOn LVW5007.
The manual is 43 pages, but is lacking in a key area: settings required in player video setup for various video (and audio) connections.
Since I don't know which TV I will hook it up to permanently and wanted to try it out, I simply connected the TV and player using the two RF (coaxial) jacks (in from cable and out to TV) and the RCA AV (w/r/y) jacks out the TV.
I may use S-video and optical jacks once I move it to the other room.
However, for now with just the basic connections described above (exactly as instructed in first connection diagram in manual), I have a few questions:
1) I suppose the signal from RCA connection to the TV from the DVD recorder overwrites the RF (coaxial) signal into the TV [except when the recorder is turned off so that TV can still be watched when the recorder is off]?
This leads me to my other question:
2) The manual states S-video, component or progressive.
a) If using RCA AV jacks, do you set the recorder video output setting to s-video?
I did notice that the S-video and RCA jacks are grouped/delimited by one set of black lines on the player's casing, hence my assumption that they share the same setting (especially since there is NO "composite" (RCA) setting...
b) I assume the 'progressive' setting only works with component cables and should be selected when using component cables AND a
progressive-capable (ED or HD) TV?
Thanks for any tips!
I have only had the player since last night, so I will learn more as I go along, but responses to the questions would be greatly appreciated.
If not I will contact LiteOn tech support.

I am very happy with this recorder so far, especially for the price I paid.
By the way, the TV Guide Plus+ on-screen EPG works well.
YES. there IS also a timer record feature.
I love the search feature in the guide listings:
Search for my favorite shows, highlight the episodes I want and hit record; easy as that!
Any feedback on my original questions would be appreciated.
