i got an old canon scanner, Canon FB330P....and i have the latest drivers for it (windows xp)...today i entered the program, but it said there was no scanner detected....it does this sometimes, i don't know why.....anyway i decided to uninstall it and reinstall...
after uninstalling, i went to the installtion file, and it extracted the contents, but an error message comes up when it runs the contents (that is the setup file)...it saids.... ---->
cannot find file c:\canonscanner\disk1\setup.exe (or one of its components). check to ensure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.
I thought maybe the drivers were corrupt so i redownloaded it, but same message comes up...any idea...

Can you set the path for the filename? If so point it to that folder on the CD. Or copy the disc to your computer. Whatever folders you copy can be deleted after you install.
BTW If I was you I would just go right to Cannon's site and get the latest drivers and software you need. When I get new hardware I go right to the site. This also has the added benefit of usually only having to install what you need as opposed to the usual "extras" installed from installation discs. -
the drivers arn't on cd...i got the latest off the site, although it hasn't updated since oct 2001......+ i never use the drivers off the cd cos they only support 95-Me

that's where it extracted it to....but there's something wrong....i've used this all the time, and after extracting, it goes straight to the installation, but now the stupid message keeps coming up...thanks for the replies

Just go to c:\canonscanner\disk1\setup.exe and click on setup.exe

What motherboard do you have? How is the scanner connected? These two are important questions.
It just so happens that I tried the same scanner (I think) about a week ago. I connected it via. parallel and installed the drivers. It wouldn't work - constantly giving a TWAIN error. Is this what you get, or can it not see the scanner at all?
If you're unsure, turn the scanner on and make sure it is all connected. Then go to Control Panels --> Scanners and Cameras (in classic view) to see if your PC can see it.

EDIT - I should say that I never got it to work, but I had major problems installing a new Canon LiDE 35 too so the same solution might just apply. -
connected through parallel....it couldn't detect any scanners when i started the software (do you know why this sometimes happens), so i decided to uninstall it and that's when the problem started, the drivers wouldn't install

Have you found this site yet? You may be able to get somewhere with that.
I don't know how to cure it I'm afraid. You could always give Canon tech support a ring.

Bah Humbug. Just forget about it and joining the ranks of us who are trashing our scanners and using digital cameras instead. So far the scanner is the only thing I can't get to work after my computer upgrade.
