I just bought a dLink DSM-320 Network Media Player. I am trying to learn what I need to know to encode xvid files. The manual for the DSM-320 states that xvid files need "mp3 with pcm" What exactly does this mean. I understand that the audio stream gets converted to mp3 but what is the pcm part?
I have used simpledivx in the past but don't see any options for "mp3 with pcm" . Does anyone know if this is possible with simpleDivx? Or maybe Gordian Knot? If not what would be the best method of creating xvid files for the DSM-320?
Thanks very much.

just create normal mp3 files --

Ok - So the pcm is not something special I need to do.
Then there is some other reason the xvid files won't play on my media player. Back to the drawing board...
Thanks for the reply.
Anyone have a sure-fire method of encoding for the Dlink player?
