You convert the AVI to MPEG-2, then you need to author it (which turns it into IFO, BUP and VOB files). Then you need to burn this using a DVD-video template in your burning software.

All of the above processes are well-covered in the guides and FAQ sections.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Soundforbjt, I think some players can play AVIs directly, but of course for max compatability Raith needs to convert to MPG compliant DVD.

If only it were that quick to rename the AVI -> MPG

If you have a DivX-capable player, normally these can play raw MPEG (unauthored). Check the DVD Players list (to your left) and look up your DVD player. Most will required authored material though. http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/AVI2DVD.htm can help you convert the AVI to MPEG-2, then you need to author (I'd recommend TMPGENc DVD Author). Then burn using a DVD-video template in your favorite burning software. Please check out the guides section or the FAQ for more information, as it's all there in black and white.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    It must be either MPEG-1 (352 X 240/288 only) or MPEG-2 (352 X 240/288, 352 X 480/576, 704 X 480/576 or 720 X 480/576). https://www.videohelp.com/dvd has all the information you need regarding what is DVD compliant and what isn't; I'd suggest you take a look at it
    If in doubt, Google it.

  15. hmph. problem im having right now is the TMPGEnc DVD Author.. it says:

    Illegal audio format
    --

For a standard DVD you can only use the following audio formats.

Dolby Digital (AC-3), MPEG-1 Audio layer 2 or Linear PCM.

I used ffmpeggui to get the sound file from the .avi file...... whats wrong? help pls.

  20. Raith, there are answers to all your basic questions in the GUIDES sections. There are also numerous things explained there that you need to know, which you are not aware of yet.

I strongly recommend you commence doing some reading there, as you will soon find out that not doing this will cause your questions to no longer be answered, even by the most patient.
