  1. The ILO Firmware Download Page has been updated with new hacked firmware for MV/RF/LP (Macrovision,Region Free,3-Hour mode). I have hacked versions 1185, 1191 and 1193.

Thanks to Mr. Wizard on the Techolio forums for the hack.

I think I already wrote this in another ilo thread, but I tried the 3 hour mode in the hacked firmware for the R04 and it's actually closer to 4 hours. After recording in the 3 hour mode I opened the vobs in TMPG DVD Author and it said the birate was 3400, but the file size was smaller than a recording of the same length done on a Liteon (which comes with a 3 hour mode)- and the bitrate for the Liteon showed up as 2980- which is actually closer to a 3 hour mode.

So if this is the same as the other ilo and you record at the "3 hour mode" , then I think you're actually getting a significantly lower quality than a true 3 hour mode.

Buried somewhere in there is the information on three hour mode.

the manual for the liteon 5101 states
    LP modes bitrate is 3.3Mbps Mpeg2 352x480
    EP modes bitrate is 2.5Mbps Mpeg2 352x480
Its not like they can improve the quality of LP mode right? Since its already there in the code, they probably just took it out for some models but ppl hacked it. I like LP mode better than EP mode, especially if I want to put a 3 hour program to fill a disc (I dont like wasting space)
