  1. Well, my DVD player the other day started or should I say stopped playing red colors. All faces are green, red cars are green etc etc......... My first thought was the TV, however TV channels are all perfect color, so I am presuming it must be the DVD player.
    Can this be?
I have looked for settings on the player that may have been changed, but nothing works. Suggestions?
    Could it be the TV?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

try another dvd player - or if hooked up component , check your cables ..

    swap the cables around

More information please. Do you use the component outputs of the player, or are you using s-video or composite? If component, you might have a bad cable

Try wiggling the s-video connector if you're using that. They get dusty and sometimes need the dust blown out.

  4. I am using regular connectors, yellow white red.
It playes through my Harmon Kardon home theatre receiver.
It has been working fine since I moved and reset everything up again back in Nov, it just suddenly started 5 days ago. Thought maybe one of the kids had been pushing one too many buttons!
Will do as you suggest and check out the cables this evening when I get home, and maybe I will purchase a new set while I am out.

If the cables turn out to be OK, I would suggest that the problem is probably in your TV set. Either that or the player. I know that doesn't help much

Do you have another set you can try it out on? Then you'd know if it's the player or the TV that's the problem? If nothing else, bring the player down to the local appliance store and say you're shopping for a TV and want one that has a good picture with your DVD player. Try it out on a good TV and see. Then tell him you'll consider his TV and leave

At least that'll keep you from replacing the wrong thing.

  6. I will take the player next door and try it on their TV and see what happens if I have no luck with the cables.
Panasonic are generally reliable and long lasting electronics, I am surprised it may have gone with little use over 2 years. I am hoping it wil be the cables.

I wouldn't bet on that....my brother's died in 2 yrs, just stopped playing anything. it looks like a player problem, if you tv is fine on cable.

manufacturer doesnt alway make a lot of diff. .. often it is a specific model that is better than another --

if you want the most reliable - get a pioneer 7400 , but they are expensive (but WILL last a long time) , so will the marantiz pro line - which uses huge heavy duty motors also ...

most dvd players now are just throw away units .... specially under $100

  10. I got this problem on my Philips when the video options reset to s-video. When I changed back to regular output the problems went away. Might not be your problem but it is worth looking at.
Still a few bugs in the system...

  11. Thanks everyone, I replaced the cables and I now have normal colours once again.
Will keep the Pioneer and Marantz in mind when this one does kick the bucket, but it seems like we are back in business again.
Once again, Thanks everyone, you were a great help!
